Urumi is a visual fiesta. What can u expect from the ace cinematographer? I would say it is one of the most beautifully picturised malayalam movie, but not the best of a Movie.
Like most of Santosh Sivan movies, story is marred by visual effects. It fails touch u, unlike Patriot or Braveheart. Screenplay is decent, but afterwards u'll feel like a one-liner parade. Most of the dialogues are one liners. Story and screenplay is by Shankar Ramakrishnan. He had earlier scripted and directed Island Express from Kerala cafe. Though one liners, dialogues have a punch. Mulla poombodi ettu kidakkum… Ranjith-inte assistant-ayi work cheythathinte aayirikkum.
Even though hard to admit(Like every Jealousy Bloody Malayali), Prithviraj's screen presence is excellent.(Admit it guys he is the next big thing). Also is Nithya Menon's presence, i loved her so much on screen. Prabhu deva has done his part neatly. The Casting is decent. I would say most odd casting was Genilia. Tabu, you would'nt even remember seeing Tabu.
I liked all the songs the first time itself, on screen also they are beautiful. Only Chimmi Chimmi and Aaraane aarane songs are complete in the movie, all the rest of the songs are snipped off, but not disappointing.
Art direction and locations are awsome. BG Scores, Editing and VFX are also above par.
It is sure to set box office clinking. Its worth a shot.
My rating 6.5/10.
